    Kailash Mansarovar - A Journey That Enriches and Purifies Your Soul

    This holy destination is visited by only a certain number of people each year.     In India registration for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is organised by the Ministry Of External Affairs. The route through Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) involves trekking through Chialekh Valley and Om Parvat. The other route through Nathu La Pass is motor able and suitable for senior citizens. This route passes through Hangu Lake and the vast Tibetan Plateau.


    Itinerary from Kathmandu

    • Fly to Kathmandu, arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. Overnight stay at hotel.
    • Darshan of Pashupatinath Temple and Bodhnath Stupa. Later fly to Nepalgunj stay at a hotel.
    • Early morning about 60 min flight to Simikot. Complete the border immigration formalities in Simikot. Then proceed to Hilsa (3700m) by helicopter. Cross the Karnali River through a suspension bridge and continue trekking to Sher village. Then proceed to Purang.
    • Stay at Purang (3900m) for acclimatization. It is important for your body to adapt to elevated atmosphere before embarking on a high altitude.
    • An early morning drive to Lake Mansarovar (4560m) for a holy dip that will re energize your senses and wash away all your sins. Soak in the heavenly scenic beauty and complete the lake parikrama.
    • Early morning Puja at Lake Mansarovar which arouses your spirituality, stay further for havan and Puja, in the evening drive to Dachen. In Darchen you can opt for Astapada excursion (at extra cost), it is said that Mt Kailash is encircled by 8 smaller mountains that appear to be in shape of a lotus flower. Astapada means 8 steps; you can opt for this holy excursion.
    • Drive to the starting point of the trek, Yamdwar, the auspicious gateway. Then trek to Dirapuk. Enroute observe the magnificent scenic beauty of Kailash, with sights of yaks and monasteries.
    • Trek to Zhuthphuluk (4870m) via Dolma la Pass (5600m). This trek though comparatively tough due to unpredictable weather conditions, will lead you to the famous glacial lake Gauri Kund. Hindus believed that Goddess Parvati used to take bath in this lake.
    • Complete the Kailash kora (circumambulation) and proceed to Hilsa. If time permits, airlift to Simikot.
    • Fly to Nepalgunj via Simikot and then take a flight to Kathmandu
