    Hate it or be okay with it periods are the reality that we have to go through. Teenagers or even oblivious adults may have many questions regarding periods which they didn’t ask somebody. However, you must understand that there is no harm or shame in talking about periods. It’s natural and we need to understand it because anyway we have to deal with it in any case.

    Just like your pads, tampons are also used to store and dump the period blood. It is made up of a soft material which is inserted in the vagina. It has a string with it which helps to remove it easily. 

    With each tampon box, you will get a proper user manual to tell you how to use them. You have to insert in your vagina which is the opening between your urethra from where the pee comes out. After inserting it use it for the next 4 to 8 hours depending upon your blood flow. You should change it within every 4 to 8 hours. Removing it is simple with the string but if you don’t find it easily don’t worry it can take time in the beginning but you will eventually find it.

    Periods have their own cycle and routine. Thanks to smartphones that there are many good period trackers. Period tracker is a must for every girl as it helps to note when you had your periods and for how long and then it predicts when are you going to have it next. Also, it is a good thing for those who want to get pregnant as it tells the ovulating days.


    1. Can one go for swimming in periods?


    Yes, you certainly can go for swimming after wearing a tampon. Pads won’t work in the water so use tampons. Moreover, in water the blood flow also stops during the water pressure. So, no need to worry. Swim as much as you want. 


    In some families, it must be inappropriate to talk openly about such things. However, one must stop being shy and be straightforward about it. Talk to anyone with whom you feel comfortable for getting more information about periods. However, talking to a gynaecologist would be the best.
