Residential Fire Damage Restoration After a House Fire

    11 December 2019

While you never hope for a house fire, sometimes they happen. When they do, it’s important to have a plan in place to make sure that you and your family are safe. Here are some things you should make sure you do after a fire and before you get residential fire damage restoration.

    Assess the Damage

You will need a detailed list of damaged property for insurance purposes. Separate your damaged and undamaged property first to make it easier to compile a list. The list should include the date you purchased each item, the brand name, the price you paid, and the serial number, model, or description of each item.

    Save Undamaged Property

Any items that were not damaged, get them out of the house and put them in a safe place. If you have to, rent a storage unit to store your undamaged property.

    .Figure Out Your Living Situation

If your home is too damaged to live in, make sure you have a plan in place for where you will go. Friends, family, or even a hotel are all options. If you choose the hotel route, make sure you check with your insurance company to see if/where you can stay that will be covered by your insurance plan. If insurance will cover a stay at the Hilton, you don’t want to book a room at the Ritz.
