JioPhone review: What a featured Phone

    22 February 2019

If we have to define features that make an ideal mobile phone in 2017, then we have to use the following nouns - Large 'narrow-bezel' AMOLED display, long-lasting battery, a couple of the latest software and a great camera sensor . But spin the clock 10 years ago by 2007 and your description of a perfect phone would be something with the ability to open the T9 keyboard and the Google search page at least. Still, people enjoyed those phones because they never needed to worry about software updates and compatibility like Pesky accessories, and also the concern of carrying the extra power bank to keep the device juicy. The new generation of phones just does not give those thrills.

Earlier this year, Reliance Jio announced the Jio Phone, which promised to bring a modern smartphone feature in the feature phone crowd for a relatively inexpensive price. This is a lengthy claim, especially after Nokia's rebirth, with 3310 standard feature phone features, the most wanted crowd segment was unreachable. Therefore, we decided to take the JioPhone switch as our daily driver and find out if it could actually throw stones at the modern smartphone. After all, how can an ed hypered feature phone prove its value more than a modern traditional smartphone?

First things - Reliance Jio does not build JioPhone. Reliance's sister brand LYF is behind this. If you are superstitious about the Indian-branded smartphone brands making quality handsets, then be ready to prove wrong. JioPhone sports a great build quality that can match shoulders to certain types of phones. Although this can not sport the metal-glass combo body, JioPhone is made of good quality plastics and an attractive finish.

It is very rare to keep the phone's keyboard under the magnifying glass these days because these are pop-ups on touch screens of all smartphones. The Yesteryear in JioPhone - T9 is a physical keypad from the keyboard. T9s are not easy to type long text and require a lot more pressing than the standard QWERTY layout - JioPhone requires a lot of physical input to write a sentence. However, the buttons are backlit, have a good strategy and are comfortable to use for simple texting. There is also a shortcut for video calling in the dial button, while the end call / end button requires a lot of back button (later on). There are also some shortcuts in the navigation buttons, while the 'Ok' button in the center can be used to turn on the flashlight or 'Hello Geo' - to send a call, send an SMS, search Google and do something else Original Voice Assistant app works. JioMoney also has a shortcut for the My Jio app - a JioPhone user will often need it.

Reliance says that JioPhone uses any kind of 1GHz dual-core processor, which has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. In addition to these basic details, JioPhone is one of the very few smart phones to connect to Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC chip in addition to Bluetooth v4.1 connectivity. Of course, users can slot into micro SD card up to 128GB to store additional data. There is also a Micro USB port, which can also help stream content on TV through Jio's JioMediaCable, apart from charging the battery and transferring data, which is available for purchase separately (will be made available soon ).

JioPhone runs on KaiOS, which is not very popular based on Firefox. The software is important for claiming Jio's QC-Smart feature phones. Since Firefox itself was inspired by Android, you have to enjoy a lot of similarities from Android smartphones. You still have to hold the star button (*) long to unlock the phone, but later, this is a different experience on this phone. The menu system looks like an Android phone's app drawer and once you press the back button, you are taken directly to the previous screen on the home screen, just like the traditional feature phone. It takes a while for the app to load, which has been given in view of the weak internal, but for any JioBhone user it should not be of great concern. The software will get updates on time along with the new features along with the application (future plans for JiaPhone, WhatsApp).

Since Jio retails the phone and locking the handset by default in its 4G VoLTE network, all on Smart FEATURES depend on Jio's own ecosystem. However, the phone is currently not for sale and is only given to those who pre-ordered the phone during the offer period. You can make video calls through the JioVideoCall app, watch the TV through the JioTV app, read the news through the JioXpressNews app, and so on. Navigating apps in the form of their enabled touch-enabled Android counterparts can not be easy, but after spending some time with the phone, you'll be at home with these customized Jio apps.

By this time, you may be thinking about the ability to handle the display and all its features that intend to display it. Well, the 2.4-inch display has a pixel resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, which may seem to be fun but works well on this small display. To be honest, it would be inappropriate to compare performance with the cheapest smartphone, which LYF itself makes. The display does not have wide viewing angles, it wash the colors and makes some elements of the UI heavy pixelmable. But in the Rs 1,500, you can not expect a super-precise AMOLED display with HDR colors like life. Therefore, the display works for JioPhone considering its dirt-cheap price tag.

However, the one who surprised us the most was the Audio Department. JioPhone is one of the longest speakers, which we have seen in a mobile phone after a long time. You can probably make it your home party without the need for a Bluetooth speaker. There is lack of bass in it, but it makes for high and mid-frequencies. Even when you are using your headphones with a 3.5 mm port (yes, JioPhone does not rely on wireless audio witchcraft), you will get a good balanced audio output. LYF to Kudos

JioPhone comes with a pair of cameras, one on each end. The rear unit is a 2MP sensor with no LED flash and no autofocus. The results of this sensor can be safely said to be less than the least washed colors and insufficient acuity as well as vice versa, as you might be looking at. The front VGA camera should be given strict priority for video calls and it would be wise to avoid selfie with this child. Check out some samples from the rear camera.

2000mAh battery is on duty to keep JioPhone alive. If you keep mobile data all day long and do a lot of calls as well as stream live TV shows, then you can expect an average one-day battery life, which is equivalent to a traditional Midregion smartphone and three - There is no battery facility for four days.

    Decisions

JioPhone is essentially available under contract, where users initially have to pay Rs 1,500 for the phone and have to continue to recharge the data plan for three years, after which the amount of Rs 1,500 will be returned to the user. Will be credited in return. This then makes it clearly suitable for those budget-conscious Internet app-lovers consumers who are looking for a strong phone that will work. It can also be suggested for those elderly people who prefer to stay away from the complex multitasking life of an average millennium. What this fails to do is understand for the smartphone generation or those who have the means to get an expensive iPhone.

But what it does to JioPhone - offers basic entry-level smartphone adventures on a very tight budget. JioPhone can mostly do the stuff you need on a smell
