Exploring the World of Spanners

11 September 2019

There is no denying the fact that a spanner is one of the most popular types of tool. Be it for professional work or household maintenance, a spanner has universal application.

The main work of a spanner is to turn a fastener either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Although spanners have universal application, it is very important to choose the right spanner for the right work. Apart from the utility, we should also lay focus on quality when choosing a spanner. This is why people often go for reputed brands. As a result, there is always a huge demand for a TATA product.

Spanners come in different shapes and sizes, designated for certain purposes.

Here are some of the most common types of spanners:

a) Scaffold Spanner – Resembling a box-shaped head, this type of spanner might be single-ended or double-ended. You can find this tool at any building site as it is widely popular among builders. It is very handy when it comes to lifting scaffolding in the construction site. The box-shape head is their biggest USP because it is very flexible in nature.

b) Combination Spanner – This is one of the most common types of spanners. A typical combination spanner has 2 heads – an open head and a ring head. The open head is very strong and so it is used for tightening purposes.

c) Box Spanner – Box spanners are mostly used in fixing vehicle parts and also in different plumbing activities. The hexagonal profile of this tool helps to make contact with the fastener from various directions and it becomes incredibly easy to turn the fasteners. Box spanners are made from metal tubes.

d) Flare nut Spanner – In most parts of the world, flare spanner is also known as brake spanner or crow’s foot spanner. Just like combination spanners, it also has 2 heads. This type of spanner is expertly designed so that it easily fits to the fasteners which are already attached to the tubes. As a result, flare nut spanner or brake spanner is a very popular tool for plumbing activities.

e) Ratchet Spanner – This spanner has universal application because of its incredible mechanism that enables the head of the spanner to turn any fastener into a particular direction while it stays attached to the head of the fastener. The arrows in the surface help to determine in which direction the nut is getting turned.

f) Insulated Spanner – It is the favourite tool of any electrician. Ensuring safety from electrical shocks is very important when it comes to dealing with electrical appliances. It is electrically insulated and has a plastic coating which is very important because it prevents the electricity from passing.

g) Pin Spanner – It is the mechanism that makes this tool unique for the others. It does not grip the fastener’s head instead it inserts metal pins on its head. As a result, the pins cause the fastener to move every time the spanner is turned.

Conclusion

Gone are the days, where you had to spend an entire day moving from one shop to another for finding the right pair of tools. Now, you can buy your favourite tool online. You can even find quality high-quality TATA products on popular e-commerce websites such as Flipkart and Amazon.

Not just spanners, even for other tools such as pliers, hammers, and wrenches, you should purchase quality products only which guarantees quality performance and life-long durability. It is true that you will come across a plethora of options but you can rely on top brands such as TATA for that matter.
