    IAS Exam: An Introduction

    In the earlier stage of 1855 Indian civil services examination was introduced, it was shortly called as ICS. Later on, the name of ICS was modified as IAS (Indian Administrative Services). UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) engage a greater number of students to identify their merit and determination.     IAS Exam stages:

    IAS exam is conducted by the UPSC, it consists couple of stages.

    Stage 1: This is classified as Civil Services Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) conducted to pick the candidates for the Main Examination.

    Stage 2: Candidates whoever cleared the prelims are eligible to attend the Civil Services Main Examination (Written& Interview), this is the second step to become an IAS officer.     UPSC-IAS exam notifications:

    Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the IAS Preliminary Examination during the month of May-June every year . Prelims notifications will come by Dec-Jan month of every year.  

    IAS Key Eligibility criteria:

    Applicant must graduate a degree in the Universities associated with the Act of the Central or state legislature in India or authorized by University Grant Commission. He/she must have also reached the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August of the year of the examination. The upper age limit is applicable up to maximum of five years in case of SC/ST; three years for OBC’s and 10 years for physically challenged persons.
