Showing your patriotism can be done in various ways. This can be done by openly declaring your love for the motherland, showing your support to the troops or other representatives of the country, or simply hanging an American flag bunting from the window of your home.
A flag bunting is a type of banner, cloth, or piece of paper that imitates the design and shape of a national flag. Displaying this anywhere in your home is a great display of patriotism and can be done by anyone at any place. This is as good as an open declaration of patriotism and love for the motherland. It’s cheap, affordable, and not so difficult to do. Literally anyone and everyone can do it for themselves.
When You Should Display a Flag Bunting
Often, a flag bunting is displayed in people’s homes leading up to Independence Day. It’s during this time that you may start seeing people hanging up buntings or draping symbols of independence up their windows. The other times a flag bunting can be draped up your front porch or window is during any other holiday, such as Thanksgiving and the like.
However, the most common time to display a flag bunting is during Independence Day. You can also display this once troops return from the war or battle to thank them for their service to the country. This will boost their morale and show your support for them.
How to Drape a Flag Bunting Over Your Window
If you want to drape a flag bunting over your window on any of these occasions but aren’t sure how to do so, here’s a rundown of the steps:
Step 1
Open your window and clean the bottom exterior frame. You can do this using a soap and water solution. Wipe this dry with a towel.
Step 2
Drape the American bunting flag on the outside of your window from the inside of your home. Pull the bunting tightly inside. You may ask the help of someone to assist you in determining whether the flag is already evenly placed along the center of the windowsill.
Step 3
Secure the bunting by attaching it to the exterior window frame. Use masking tape to do this. Make sure that you’ve already secured it in the desired position before securing it with masking tape. You can do this by asking your assistant to make sure that the flag doesn’t move as you are securing it in place.
Step 4
Mark the flag’s position using a pencil before removing the bunting.
Step 5
Drill holes for screw hooks in the place of the pencil marks. Base the holes on the size of the hooks you purchased. Any size of hook that fits your grommet will do.
Step 6
Screw the hooks in place. Stop the hooks facing upward. Slip each grommet on the pleated bunting flag over the hooks.
The Final Word
There are plenty of ways to display your patriotism, and displaying a flag bunting is one of them. You can easily do this on your own, with the slight help of an assistant.
