The emergence of Parkinson's disease is the most notable and serious side effect that Paraquat is said to have caused over time. As a result, the pesticide has been outlawed in 32 nations worldwide, including the European Union. However, Paraquat has not yet been outlawed in the US.
The use of paraquat has grown recently. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency claims Paraquat to be the most extensively used weed killer in the country. In the United States, crops receive about 11 million pounds of Paraquat spraying.
