Ottoman- the byword in comfortable cushioned seating. What is an ottoman you ask? In the 18th century, Turkish (ottomans) people were very concerned about their comfort. Ottomans introduced a padded, upholstered seat or bench without arms or aback. The ottomans have evolved over time from being a stool with stacks of cushions to a divan like a comfortable chair, which when traveled to the west became circular seats in hotels, in and around sofas. The rage of ottomans was then popularised by the Greek and French, and boy was they correct in being obsessed with it!
A pouf is a version of an ottoman which is small and basically puffed out. It is a smaller, softer and cushiony version of the ottoman. Ottomans and pouffes most commonly are treated as same or similar despite having a thin line of difference.

Ottomans will just be your artistic liberty, by which you can contrast with your furniture, or match it to any of your decor items to make them pop out.
