Owning a car comes with all sorts of costs such as car insurance premiums, ERP charges and of course, parking fees. But parking doesn’t always have to cost a bomb.
Plus, as shopping malls offer free parking to attract customers during the current Covid-19 outbreak, you have more places to park at cheap prices, or even for free.
Most shopping centers are offering free parking during lunch or dinner time to attract people to patronize F&B outlets in their malls because only essential services are open until the end of the circuit breaker period.
But the free parking rates may even extend beyond June 1. Here are all the shopping malls offering free parking in Singapore:
But if you’re looking for places to go outside of the free parking hours stated, there are also some places with really cheap parking rates. Let’s look at 15 cheapest parking spots in Singapore

Far East Plaza offers one of the cheapest parking rates in Orchard Road. Weekday parking costs $1.61 for the first hour, and $1.07 for every subsequent half an hour or part thereof. After 5 pm, it is $3.53 per entry.
Shopping on Sundays and public holidays? The rate is simply $4.07 for the first 3 hours or part thereof, and then $1.07 for subsequent half an hour or part thereof.

Marina Square has always been known for its relatively cheap parking. Before 22 February 2020, their regular parking rates were $2.20 for the first 2 hours and $1.10 for every subsequent half an hour for weekdays. Weekday evenings only cost $2.20 per entry.
Now, from 22 February 2020, there is a promotion on their parking fees until further notice. If you’re there to take away lunch or dinner between 12 pm to 2 pm or 5 pm to 2 am, you get free parking. Otherwise, it is $1.10 per hour or part thereof on weekdays or $1.20 per hour or part thereof on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays. Parking in downtown doesn’t get cheaper than that!

Another great place to park if you’re heading in the Suntec and South Beach area is Shaw Towers. Parking costs only $1.07 for the first hour and $1.07 for every subsequent half an hour. From 5 pm to 12 am, it is $2.20 per entry, whereas, for Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays, it is a flat and simple $2.14 per entry.

If you’re looking to get lunch in the area during weekdays, you can also benefit from free parking between 12.30 pm to 1.29 pm.

Down in the South, Vivocity is not just a place to pass by on the way to Sentosa. It is filled with great shops and F&B options. Apart from the cinema, they also have large kids’ playgrounds so there are endless things to do there.
The best part is, the parking is cheap! At $1.20 for the first hour and $0.60 for every subsequent 30 minutes on weekdays before 6 pm and affordable rates of $2 to $3 per entry at peak periods, it’s a place where you definitely can go and spend lots of time, without worrying about the time.
Do note that the multi-storey carpark is closed until further notice, but you can still park at the basement carpark via the entrance along Harbourfront Walk.

Next to Kovan MRT Station, Heartland Mall is a suburban mall catered to locals, and its parking rates are one of the cheapest, even among suburban malls. It’s $1 per hour from 7 am to 10.30 pm, which is basically the whole day. Get out there before the clock strikes 10.30 pm, though, as it is $2 per hour, which is pretty steep for the location.

Hougang Green Shopping Mall is another mall in the heartlands, filled with tuition centers, salons, and various shops. It also has a Pet Lovers Centre and a coffee shop. Parking here is even cheaper than Heartland Mall in the evenings, including weekends, since it is only $1.20 per entry.

Mustafa Centre on Syed Alwi Road is a 24-hour shopping mall with an eclectic mix of everything, from groceries to electronics to Rolex watches. Recently, there was a Covid-19 cluster at Mustafa Centre and the mall was closed for disinfection for two weeks. It is gradually being opened now so just check before you go and take the necessary precautions such as wearing a mask and distance from crowds.
One great thing about Mustafa Centre is that the first hour of parking is free, so if you just want to grab something quickly, you can zip in and out of there for free. It is $1 for every subsequent 30 minutes thereafter.

IKEA is known for Swedish meatballs, DIY furniture, and free parking! The one at Alexandra offers free parking for paying customers, but the one at Tampines offers free parking from 7 am to 11 pm. So take your time to window shop and have some meatballs and choose your furniture, there’s no rush!

Katong is home to famous laksa and Peranakan eateries. The shophouses give it an idyllic historic atmosphere, but it’s not always easy to find parking. Luckily, a series of malls such as Katong Square and Katong V was launched within the last five years so it is much better now. Plus, it’s not expensive to park in these places!
At Katong Square, it costs between $0.32 and $1 for the first hour on most days and time slots. However, if you’re parking there on the weekends between 10 am to 9 pm, it costs $1.28 for the first hour and $0.65 for every subsequent 15 minutes, so not exactly cheap. Just time your visit to get the best parking rates. During Covid-19, parking at Katong Square to dabao your lunch between 12 pm and 2 pm is free on weekdays, excluding public holidays.

hillV2 is a gem in the West. It has some very established restaurants such as Dean & Deluca, Cold Stone Creamery and for the traditional Chinese folk, there is also Joyden, offering Cantonese cuisine. Next to nearby Hillview MRT Station in Upper Bukit Timah, the mall is frequented by residents in the private developments at Hillview Avenue and Hume Avenue.
Surprisingly, the parking is not expensive here. It costs $1.07 for the first hour and $0.64 for every subsequent 30 minutes. So hit up hillV2 next time you’re in the west and looking for some new restaurants to try!

Even on the weekends, it’s not expensive, costing only $1.07 for the first two hours.

There is a library, cinema, dental clinic, Singpost branch as well as various restaurants, bakeries, and health & beauty shops here.
Daily 7 am to 7 am (next day) $1.18 for the first 2 hours, $0.64 for every subsequent 30 mins
Yew Tee Point is a relatively new mall equipped with a supermarket, restaurants, bakeries, and more. Parking there is cheap at $1.18 for the first 2 hours and $0.64 for every subsequent 30 minutes. During the Covid-19 period, there is also free parking during lunchtime and after 6 pm.
