Durga Puja signifies the victory of good over evil. It is a ten-day festival which starts from Mahalaya and ends on Dashami. The city of Kolkata rejoices these days by worshiping Goddess Durga, along with her four children.

Bengalis wait year long to experience the Durga Puja vibe that amplifies the spirit of Kolkata. Also, it is a time which unites people and exemplifies communal harmony.

Invoking goddess Durga on earth, Kolkata observed Mahalaya with devotional songs, scriptural recitations and prayers as greetings on social media enlivened a rainy day. Meanwhile, around 300 people came together to create the longest ‘alpana’ or ‘rangoli’ on 1.4 km stretch of Lake Road in South Kolkata.
