(1) THE PLANT
Chips of the plant are mixed with chemicals like sodium hydroxide to create a dark wood pulp solution.
(2) THE CLEANING PROCESS
Brown wood pulp is first washed, cleaned, and bleached.
(3) THE MAKING OF FIBER
After being treated with carbon disulfide, the pulp is dissolved in sodium hydroxide to produce the "viscose" solution which is used to spin the fibers.
(4) THE SPINNING PROCESS
Regenerated cellulose filaments are produced by forcing a viscous solution through a spinneret.
(5) THE FINAL RESULT
Weaving or knitting with this regenerated cellulose yarn results in a viscose rayon fabric.
